The provision of integrated occupational therapy services is outlined in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, federal legislation, and established evidence-based practices. Occupational Therapy Practitioners (OTPs) fundamentally understand and favor the effectiveness of integrated services, yet there remains a research-to-practice gap that results in serving students with limited interprofessional collaboration through hands-on, direct services outside students’ routine environments and activities.
This concentrated, 3-session cohort will assist OTPs to be more intentional about designing and implementing integrated school-based services. Barriers to this practice in Region 9, as determined by survey in Fall 2022, will be discussed alongside facilitators and subsequent supports in order to rethink primary service delivery models.
