Leveling Up Literacy: Supporting Struggling Readers in Your Classroom (1st -5th grades) (2 DAYS - 6 HOURS OF GT CREDIT)

This session will provide information on how readers read based on the Science of Reading and provide educators with strategies to help support struggling readers. 

Important Session Information:

The session addresses the needs of students who struggle with text comprehension because they lack proficiency in early reading skills. Participants will explore the science of teaching reading and how cognitive processes associated with disabilities impact the learning of foundational literacy skills. Participants will build knowledge and understanding of how instructional supports can be used to accommodate and reduce the impact of a disability. This session is 2 days. You must attend both days to receive credit. You will receive 6 hours of GT credit and 6 hours of CPE credits. Partial credit will not be given.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
