Important Session Information:


Lunch and learn for child care directors and providers. (Lunch will be provided) Explore how to connect with kids on a deeper level. You will learn how to become a better active listener, how to become more fully present, and how to help kids communicate using no-talk activities. Creative suggestions will be given for parents and teachers. The presenters are Wendy Helmcamp, PhD, LPC-S, and Charis Rhoades, BBA. Dr. Helmcamp is an MSU Assistant Professor in the Clinical Mental Health graduate program who was a school counselor for 14 years and also has experience working on the children's unit at a psychiatric hospital. Charis Rhoades, BBA, is a graduate student in the MSU Clinical Mental Health program and is the Community Educator for the North Central Area Health Education Center. She has experience working with children using play therapy techniques during her clinical semesters and will graduate in May. Both presenters are passionate about working with children and adolescents.
