Stop Talking About Me and Listen to Me




This session is for Special Education staff who work with students both in the classroom and in helping them plan for the future. 

Important Session Information:


Join us for a session to learn about person-centered planning and self-determination in special education from guest speakers Aimee and Ty Day. Since 2017, Ty and Aimee Day have used person-centered planning and trauma-informed support help him become a young adult who is not afraid to speak up for himself. Ty will share his story of feeling powerless and misunderstood, even by his own mother! Mom learned how to truly listen and discover what he was trying to tell her. Together, they taught others the importance of having the POWER to make informed choices and have positive control to help him reach his goals. The afternoon session will expand on practical strategies based on the foundational concepts covered in the morning session. Afternoon session will be presented by ESC staff.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
