Reading Is Hard Sometimes… Now What? Tools, Science, and Supports That Help (2nd - 5th Grades)(2 Days - 6 Hours of GT Credit)




Practical strategies and science-based tools to help every student access and understand grade-level text.

Important Session Information:


This two-day professional learning session is designed for educators who want practical strategies to support students who struggle with reading comprehension, including twice-exceptional learners. Participants will explore why reading can be difficult for some students and how foundational literacy skills shape overall comprehension. Educators will dive into the science of reading and examine how cognitive processes can impact the acquisition of early reading skills. Through discussions and practical applications, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how students process print and language. Participants will leave with tools, strategies, and instructional supports that can reduce the impact of learning challenges and help ALL students access grade-level text. Attendance Requirement: This session is 2 days. You must attend both days to receive credit. You will receive 6 hours of GT credit and 6 hours of CPE credits. Partial credit will not be given.

  • There will be a $250 per day fee for out-of-region or non Region 9 District participants. If coop membership is required, there will be a $125 per day fee for non-coop participants.
