Special Ed MOE (Maintenance of Effort)




Now is the time to prepare for MOE compliance. The first part of this session will be a review of MOE processes along with strategies to insure your compliance NOW before books are closed. We will review eligibility for voluntary reduction, exceptions, and the impact of CEIS, federal grants, and SHARS. The second part will be a time of questions and answers related to your specific district needs. Please bring your laptop and your PIC23 expenditures.

Important Session Information:


Maintenance of Effort is a federal requirement for utilizing federal special education funds. You must 'maintain' your state and local spending effort from year-to-year. This is a work session where we will look at your most recent Final Compliance Report and determine what you must spend before you close your books in order to remain in compliance AND in order to manage the amount the district must spend. Bring your laptop and any reports you want to use, and we will assist you in determining best next steps to prevent any surprises in your preliminary compliance report and to keep you from falling victim to any potential funding cliff.
