Send a Message Using Sound - Grade 1 - STEM - 2019-2020

How Can We Send a Message Using Sound? is a unit for first grade students aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (Washington State Science Learning Standards). In the unit, students explore different ways of sending a message and organize them by how the message is sent. Throughout the unit students engage in science and engineering practices, various crosscutting concepts, and physical science and engineering core ideas. This class prepares teachers to: • Access online teacher and student resources • Develop understanding of the unit’s storyline, instructional model, and standards alignment. • Organize and manage the materials in the unit to support student learning activities. • Support and assess student sense-making with a variety of strategies, including science notebooks. • Provide examples or resources about STEM-related career choices to use with students
