AWSP Framework Training 2019-2020 TPEP Principal Criterion 1-8

Participants will learn how to use the AWSP framework and corresponding rubrics to encourage growth through professional development. They will learn how the rubrics are linked to primary and secondary sources and reflect the strong association between leadership performance and important school and student outcomes. In addition, participants will learn how the rubrics for this framework were constructed based on a four-tier scale (ranging from unsatisfactory to distinguished), to coincide with the legislative mandates. Participants will learn about the structure of the AWSP Leadership Framework, which contains four reflection components: 1) the knowledge and skills possessed by successful principals, 2) evidence used for measures, 3) support principals need to excel, and 4) the authority that principals need to excel in each responsibility. Participants will learn how the details within each component are intended to be a starting point to stimulate discussion and assist principals and evaluators in examining factors that influence the principal’s leadership. The components are followed by suggested questions designed to help initiate this discussion. Overall, participants will learn how to explore evidence and measures and support and authority to implement the AWSP Framework with completeness and fidelity.
