AFESC--Lifelines Intervention
Lifelines Intervention is a full day workshop designed to facilitate intervention with and referral of potentially at-risk students by school resource staff. It provides an assessment and referral process, specifically addressing the impact of student developmental level on the way in which assessment questions are presented in elementary, middle and high schools. Lifelines recognizes that although schools are not mental health facilities, the skillful and appropriate adaptation of traditional counseling techniques by school-based staff can assist in the process of gathering essential information from students that can enhance the effectiveness of the assessment and referral process. This workshop is for any professional in the school setting who responds to students identified to possibly be at risk for suicide, and community mental health and community services providers who support schools or accept referrals when students are identified to be at risk for suicide.
