SCSC-Special Education 101



The ADE Special Education Unit will guide participants through the special education process from child find and referral, to IEP development and reevaluation considerations. Participants will learn about required procedures and considerations around disciplining students with IEPs and the steps involved in the State's System for Dispute Resolution including Mediation, IEP Facilitation, State Complaints, and Due Process Hearings. This session will be conducted through a combination of the presenter sharing information, small group work and online learning. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1B, 1F, 4B, 4C, and 4F.

Important Session Information:


For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price of the session(s) not attended. No credit will be awarded until the fee is paid.
