SCSC - KATA in the Classroom

The ""Kata in the Classroom"" training is an extension of Toyota manufacturing industry principles, learned in LEAN101, to improve team work and cognitive skills through a simple process of putting a puzzle together as a team in a timed exercise. The goal for ""Kata in the Classroom"" is for participants to recognize metacognitive skills that can be developed and employed in the classroom and the work environment. Our session goal is to teach each CTE teacher how to incorporate the strategy into a CTE classroom. Each participant will receive a copy of the book ""Toyota Kata"" by Mike Rother, and five puzzles for classroom implementation. The afternoon session will include a tour of a local business/industry. This workshop is free for Carl Perkins Consortium member schools. CTE teachers will be given preference on registration. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1E, 3C, and 4A.
