A target behavior is the behavior that has been selected for change. Because we will be taking data on the student’s progress, it is helpful to know what to record and what not to record. A definition of the target behavior is considered clear, concise, and objective when anyone can read it and know exactly what to look for. This training will focus on how to precisely define target behaviors in order to effectively lay the right foundation for appropriate intervention.
Defining the Target Behavior is one of four Essential Skills Trainings that are beneficial to attend prior to any of the Tier 2 trainings being provided throughout the school year. The Essentials will be required in 2018-19 for the development of school district teams that will receive in-depth training and coaching toward building local capacity.
