SCSC - Virtual Book Study: Disruptive Thinking: Why How We Read Matters by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst

Who wants to earn their professional development hours from home or at the beach? In Disrupting Thinking, Beers and Probst take teachers a step further with close reading and discuss an on-going problem: lack of engagement with reading. They explain that all too often, no matter the strategy shared with students, too many students remain disengaged and reluctant readers. Participants will receive a copy of the text and be a part of a virtual book study. There will be one, three hour face-to-face meeting on June 6, 2018. At this training, participants will learn how to use and access the online tools used to complete this professional development. These tools include Google Classroom, Google Docs, Zoom, Twitter, and/or Flipgrid. The rest of this workshop will be done virtually. The course will last from June 6, 2018 until July 27, 2018.
