SCSC-Exploring the ADD/ADHD Dilemma: Help for Educators & Parents



This worthwhile workshop will give an overview of the ADD/ADHD “epidemic” relative to our Country and explore recent research on possible causes, new treatments, and helping parents of your students who have ADD/ADHD symptoms, along with simple to use but effective classroom activities and management techniques.  The following is an outline of the workshop:

  1. Definition and extent of the ADD/ADHD challenge
  2. Subjective diagnosis versus new Bio diagnosis
  3. Recent research on possible causes
    1. Environment
    2. Diet/Nutrition
    3. Psychological
    4. Physical
  4. Treatments
    1. Medication
    2. Nutrition – foods to stay away from, foods that help
    3. Supplements
    4. Chiropractic adjustments
  5. Retraining the ADD/ADHD Brain
    1. Classroom activities and management
    2. School to Home – assisting parents
  6. Group challenges – empowering attendees to learn from each other as they explore classroom challenges g

Important Session Information:


For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price.
