SCSC-Navigating the Spectrum

This is the perfect workshop for anyone who wants to develop an in-depth understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The workshop explores the four core areas affected by ASD: communication, social interaction, sensory issues, and how an individual may think and learn. The workshop will also focus on strategies that can be implemented to ensure that needs of students on the spectrum will be met. Finally, the workshop will address some of the misconceptions that surround students on the spectrum and how those misconceptions can lead to greater problems.

  • Participants will develop a better understanding of ASD

  • Participants will explore some of the reasons a student with ASD may react differently in typical situations.

  • Participants will be armed with strategies that, when applied, will create a classroom that easily meets the needs of students on the spectrum.
