AFESC--ADE English Learner Updates: ESSA, Entry/Exit Manual, ELPA21 Data Literacy



Arkansas’ ESSA Plan includes several key components for all districts as we seek to meet the needs of English Learners in Arkansas. The first two-hours of the session are intended to help participants learn how schools and districts are going to be held accountable for English Learners’ progress to English Language Proficiency (ELP), how long Arkansas expects English Learners to take to become proficient in English, how Arkansas districts are to have common entry/exit criteria and procedures, and how parents of ELs are to be involved regarding English Learner services. The remainder of the day will focus on implementing the common Entry/Exit Manual and on ELPA21 Data Literacy as we seek to utilize ELPA21 data to inform instructional decisions and plans made for English Learners.

 



Important Session Information:


Audience: 1st two hour session is intended for superintendents, administrators and ESOL staff in order to inform all participants about the elements of the Arkansas ESSA Plan that specifically apply to English Learners. Remainder of the day is intended for those who must implement the new Entry/Exit Manual and use ELPA21 data to inform educational decisions and plans made for English Learners.

Please do not bring children to the sessions.
