SWAEC- Answering the Cry for Help: Suicide Prevention for Schools and Communities



This dynamic and interactive workshop will educate all youth caretakers in the prevention of the fastest growing killer of our Country’s most precious resource; our children. This presentation will cover the following concepts:

  • Understand why adolescents perceive suicide as an option
  • Become familiar with the scope of the adolescent suicide epidemic
  • Discover the facts from the myths about suicide
  • Become more aware of societal causes of adolescent suicide
  • Learn signs and symptoms of suicidal crisis
  • Learn basic paramedical assessment of suicidal risk
  • Become better skilled about the “do’s and don’ts working with depressed adolescents
  • Become better skilled in dealing with parents of depressed adolescents
