Learning Blade, a Statewide Initiative for Career Education and STEM Awareness; On-LINE CURRICULUM—Funded by the State of Arkansas
It is rare to find an online curriculum that students can get excited about and enjoy doing. The Learning Blade system allows students to pick and choose missions that relate to and focus on their chosen career pathways. Students across the state of Arkansas are benefiting from Governor Asa Hutchinson’s initiative which provides funding for this STEM career awareness program. In Learning Blade, students explore careers and technologies in many areas such as computer tech, engineering, health sciences, robotics, entrepreneurship and agriculture. STEM related technologies lay the foundation for all career pathways making it relevant for every student. For example, students love the Dolphin Rescue Mission, where they are introduced to careers in animal science, health care, and more. Students may choose the missions relevant to their career focus. STEM online and hands-on lessons are aligned to all Arkansas CTE pathways of study as well as common core state standards. Lessons are being incorporated in Career Development, GT, science, and foundational-level CTE programs of study from Grades 7-12.
