STEM: Picture Book Science Grades 3-5



This training will prepare teachers to use engaging, science-related fiction and nonfiction books for creating inquiry-based STEM lessons for elementary students. The participants will investigate the 5E Model of Inquiry Instruction, as well as the Strategies That Work method, for teaching comprehension. Focus areas include demonstrating reading strategies, developing vocabulary strategies, incorporating fiction and nonfiction books into instruction, and investigating the process for choosing quality books for lesson development.

There is a $25 fee per day for all participants outside the CRESC area.  No professional development credit will be given until fee is paid.
