Engaging Parents to Raise Student Achievement



In this session, teachers will actively collaborate about involving parents and creating powerful partnerships with them to increase student achievement. Some specific areas that will be explored include: Benefits and Barriers to Parent Involvement; Understanding family dynamics and characteristics; Personalities, power, and perspective; Understanding stages of grief and helping parents; Communication skills for professionals; Empathy skills; Helping parents understand and interact with new curriculum strategies; Empowering versus enabling; and How to reach and involve more parents.

There is a $15 fee for all participants outside the CRESC area.  No professional development credit will be given until fee is paid.
