Writing Across the Disciplines for Secondary Classes

All students need a well-balanced writing diet of "writing to learn" activities and "writing to demonstrate learning" tasks across all content areas. However, many teachers outside of the English classroom are often hesitant to address writing as part of their instruction. This professional learning session provides teachers in all disciplines the opportunity to experience several writing activities that can be used to help engage students with content and strengthen their writing skills in authentic ways. Strategies for writing instruction will be based on the works of Harvey Daniela, Nancy Steineke, Carol Ann Tomlinson, and Robert Reid.
