The NWA Drug Prevention Conference will be held on
Thursday, May 31st at the Jones Center in Springdale at 922 E. Emma Avenue from
9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The theme is "Igniting a Conversation at Home and in
our Communities". Conference
registration and refreshments will be from 8:30 - 9:00 am. Featured keynote
speakers are Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, Arkansas Surgeon
General Dr. Greg Bledsoe and Arkansas Drug Director Kirk Lane. Four (4)
Breakout Sessions will be offered (in the morning and repeated again in the
afternoon) to include:
Breakout #1 Electronic Cigarettes and the Evolution of
Tobacco Control
Breakout #2 Local Drug Trends
Breakout #3 Mental health presentation on issues
affecting youth in today's society
Breakout #4 Hidden in Plain Sight - Where Youth Hide
Drugs and Prescription for Life (2-part session)
This conference is appropriate for school personnel,
parents, social workers, counselors, nurses, law enforcement, coalition
members, and all community members interested in substance abuse prevention.
This is a free conference for all who register by the deadline date of Friday,
May 18th. Lunch and refreshments will be
served at no cost.
