OUR "The Brain: Its Development and Response to Injuryā€¯



In this workshop, discussion will center on typical brain development and what happens when a student sustains a brain injury or has a disease that interrupts/changes typical neurological development. Formal and informal assessment components will be discussed, along with how to interpret the information obtained during the assessment process. The impact of the age of the student at time of injury or illness will be presented, along with the importance of executive function skills and how they impact learning. The workshop will end with a group discussion of how brain injury and/or brain differences impact student learning in classroom settings.
