SE Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training - (for Southeast Co-op Schools Only)

The goal of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training is to promote the best possible Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security for anyone involved in crisis situations. Throughout this course, you will learn a range of preventive strategies, de-escalation skills, and communication techniques. You will also learn psychological and physiological responses that will minimize the potential harm of disruptive and aggressive behavior. With a focus on prevention, the training program equips staff with proven strategies for safely defusing anxious, hostile, or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage. This course will also provide training in physical interventions, focusing on disengagement skills and holding skills to be utilized when restrictive intervention is necessary for safety. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training can help your district reduce the risk of injury, comply with legislative mandates, meet regulatory/accreditation standards, improve staff retention, and minimize exposure to liability. Comfortable attire (ie blue jeans/sweats, and tennis shoes) is recommended due since participants will be practicing physical disengagements and holding techniques during training.
