WDMESC: Due Process for New Special Educators
This full day training is designed for special educators who are new to the field. The focus will be on compliance with both federal and state statutes, rules and regulations, with particular attention to timelines and completing Arkansas’ due process forms. The following areas will be addressed:
•
child find
•
from referral to evaluation (including temporary placements with IEP)
•
re-evaluation procedures
•
annual reviews, includes (1) writing standards-based IEPs with and without transition plans; (2) addressing extended year services; (3) including all required components of an Annual Review on Arkansas' new due process forms
•
separate programming conferences
•
discipline-related conferences
•
transfer reviews
•
EC transitions
