GREC-Building the Foundation for School Models of the Future

Blended learning is an approach to instruction that combines face-to-face learning at a brick-and-mortar location with online learning where the student has some element of control over time, place, path, and pace. When we begin to envision increasing student access to a flexible and personalized education we should strategically plan around critical foundational components such as policy, funding, educator roles, infrastructure, home connectivity, content choices, and others. This session will provide an introductory background to blended learning, explore flexible learning models, and engage participants in discussion regarding components necessary to build a solid foundation for innovation using blended learning. Participants will be able to: Define blended learning and describe how its relationship to instructional technology. Reflect on how various new school models would translate into their own classroom/school/district. Analyze the critical components of a strong blended learning foundation and devise a mock strategic plan for transitioning a blended learning classroom/school/district....and more! PD hours: 6 (3 hours face-to-face/3 hours online engagement) TESS domains: 4a, 4e

TEACHERS NOT WORKING UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE GREAT RIVERS CO-OP AREA WILL BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. PLEASE REMEMER THAT IF YOU REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP AT GREAT RIVERS AND DO NOT ATTEND AND DO NOT CANCEL AHEAD OF TIME, YOUR DISTRICT WILL BE BILLED FOR EACH WORKSHOP YOU FAIL TO ATTEND WITHOUT CANCELING.
