NEA - Reading Foundations: Getting Off To A Good Start By Learning To Look At Print

“Reading begins with looking an ends when you stop looking. Children must learn to look at print in controlled ways.  This is not a natural occurring set of learning.” (Clay, M. 2016)  Teachers must observe beginners closely and plan their encounters with print very carefully to ensure that confusions are minimal and if something does confuse the child, then the confusion should not be allowed to linger. This 1-day workshop will focus on visual perception and engaging methods that are fundamental for helping children to explore the written code and expand their knowledge of print.

If you are not under contract with the Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative or one of our 14 member districts, you will be responsible for all fees related to this workshop.  The fee for this workshop is $25.  Payment is expected the day of the training unless prior arrangements have been made.
