Jefferson County Reading Council is hosting a professional development opportunity for classroom teachers. Kim Sanders, the exhibit curator for the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, will present about Arkansas’ involvement in confining 16,000 of the 120,000 individuals of Japanese descent during WWII. In addition to a presentation on the subject, resources for educators will be provided, including lesson plans and activities relating to Arkansas’ involvement in the Japanese American incarceration. Information will also be provided about grants for field trips to see the exhibitions at the Butler Center in Little Rock.
