SWAEC- Public Health Policy 101
The training by the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI) will provide a health law and policy seminar: This project will: Identify key organizations and players and their roles and influence in the policy making process; Identify the rationale for governmental intervention to address health-related problems in the state; Describe approaches to conduct basic policy and stakeholder analyses; Communicate policy issues and policy positions that can assist in policy decision making; Describe the policy making process at the federal, state, and local levels; Identify the principal legal cases and statutes affecting health and health care. Core competencies may include the following examples: Knowledge of the local, state, and national policy processes; Understanding of the types of policymakers and how to effectively communicate with them; Understanding of how interest groups influence policy; Understanding of how pre-emption affects your work.
