The four-days of Essentials Trainings will cover basic knowledge of behavior. This series of trainings will give participants the foundation of the science of behavior. The Essentials Trainings are designed to provide background information for the follow-up Instructional and Behavioral Strategies Trainings (previously Tier II Trainings) being offered. The Essentials Trainings must be attended in the sequence offered and all sessions must be attended for credit. TESS components addressed for this workshop include: 1C, 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D, 4B.

Investigating Minds Want to Know: Basic Behavior Principles

Mission Possible-Defining Behavior
This 6-hour training is fundamental to the understanding and implementation of successful data collection and behavior change.
When it Comes to Data We Excel
This 6-hour workshop will help participants: determine the best data collection method based on the type of behavior being measured; use a data collection guide which provides an explanation of each type of data collection method and how to summarize data; and understand basic information for preparing a behavioral graph.
Catch’ em Being Good-Reinforcement, Punishment and Extinction
This interactive 6-hour training will help learners gain a greater understanding of basic reinforcement procedures as well as further explore misconceptions related to punishment and bribery.
