Attendance Works Secondary

The Education Renewal Zones (in partnership with ADE, Attendance Works, and the Arkansas Campaign for Grade-Level Reading) will deliver a series of professional development opportunities focusing on attendance, a key ESSA indicator.  This technical workshop is designed for district and school administrators, teachers, and other personnel to address chronic absenteeism.  School teams will analyze attendance data and collaboratively develop campus-based strategies to improve attendance.

The objective of the workshop are to:

*Enhance their understanding of chronic absence;

*Focus on the unique circumstances of attendance on the secondary grade levels;

*Highlight the correlation between attendance and school wide goals;

*Understand the philosophy and functionality of the attendance team;

*Examine a multi-tiered approach to address chronic absences; and

*Use chronic absence data to determine attendance goals and interventions.

Important Session Information:

It is recommended a team of 3-5 members attend the training to work collaboratively to begin a strategic plan to address chronic absenteeism in your building.  Team members should include a principal or assistant principal, counselor, attendance secretary, and social worker (if one exists).
