SCSC - Identification of the Gifted in a Culturally Diverse Classroom OR Am I Gifted?

There has long been concern that high-ability students from underserved populations -- those who are limited English proficient, disabled, or from minority or low-income backgrounds -- are persistently underrepresented in advanced classes and in programs for students identified as gifted.  There remains much to be done to ensure that all high-ability students receive appropriate gifted education services to meet their needs. In order to assist in alleviating this discrepancy.  Participants will be given various tools for identifying gifted children as well as high achievers. Discussions/visuals and group/individual activities will be utilized to maximize the identification process. TESS components addressed for this workshop include:  1B, 1D, 2B, and 4B.
