This session will cover literacy instruction for students with moderate and severe disabilities: early literacy, story-based lessons, and access to general reading curriculum for those in special education/ self-contained settings. Participants will learn to use ABA methods such as time delay and a system of least prompts to teach WH word concepts, content-related vocabulary, and listening/reading comprehension. By using these methods, students with disabilities who have deficits in reading (or no reading skills at all) can access the same literacy curriculum as their non-disabled peers.
