Participants will review myths and truths about self-harm and suicide, including the signs, forms, and reasons students exhibit these behaviors. Teachers and school administrators will review and practice how to use respectful curiosity to follow up on red flag behaviors, as well as how to facilitate the "warm handoff" of a student a to school counselor for further assessment. Resources for model policies and prevention will be provided to better assist school staff in managing, preventing, and intervening with suicide and self-injury. School counselors should enroll in the course specific to their role hosted at the same time for more in-depth assessment training.
