UCA STEM: Interpreting Data in Social Studies

Social studies is full of charts, facts, and figures. Interpreting data in the social studies classroom does not have to be intimidating or avoided. Embrace the mathematics with interactive tools, such as Gapminder, to see how you can help students transfer knowledge and skills from their math classes to social studies through the process of inquiry. Teachers will spend time working through lessons that incorporate charts and figures and how to read and interpret the information provided. This event will be housed at the University of Central Arkansas STEM INSTITUTE Room #214. Participants should bring a electronic device (laptop or tablet). A $50.00 registration fee is required and will include  lunch. Acceptable payment methods are cash, check, or purchase orders (P.O.). All checks should be made out to UCA STEM Institute.  If your school district will be paying with a P.O., please email me (aluyet@uca.edu) with the P.O. Number, contact name,  and email.
