Act 345 of 2015 requires all superintendents, business managers, cooperative directors, and charter school directors to receive an annual financial update of at least two (2) hours. This training on school laws of AR, laws/rules governing the expenditures of public education funds, fiscal accountability and school finance, ethics, and financial accounting and reporting of expenditures is commonly called Tier 1. The ADE also allows for Tier 1 annual training to count for Tier 2 training, at the discretion of the local district. Act 345 of 2015 also changed the requirement for Tier 2 training to a minimum of two (2) hours. Following Tier I update, Mike Mertens will provide a one-hour legislative update.
