WDMESC: Seeing is Believing: Using Visual Supports to Support Learners Across the School
The use of visuals supports is considered an evidence-based practice by both the National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders and the National Autism Center. Teachers use visual supports in the classroom for a wide variety of functions. This workshop will focus on the ways visual supports can be used to build independence, prevent challenging behavior, support communication, and give receptive information to students. Methods for creating and using visual supports in educational environments will be highlighted through videos and pictures for preschool students through adulthood.
