SCSC-Social Studies Best Practices



What does effective instruction in social studies look like? This session takes it back to the basics as teachers will learn ways to incorporate primary and secondary sources, inquiry, historical thinking skills, disciplinary lenses, teaching of controversial topics, and helpful tools and resources to reinvigorate their classroom practice. This session will also include tips on how to integrate the latest technology tools to create authentic student engagement. These practices can be applied to any grade level. This session is also beneficial for administrators and instructional facilitators who want to know more about social studies content and best practices. 

TESS components addressed for this workshop include:  1A,1C, 1D, 3B, 3C & 3D.

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price.
