The focus of this event is to illuminate the employment needs of our local industry, manufacturing, and prime employers for a prepared workforce to fill well-paying jobs in these sectors. Many of these positions require specialized training but not a college degree. Specific topics are listed below:
- Exploration of effective ways to inform parents and students of well-paying job opportunities that do not require a bachelors degree but do require specialized training,
- Sharing the role that CTE courses can play in providing this specialized training to position students to access these jobs,
- Opportunities for internships, learning "real world" skills, networking with potential employers of students, and becoming informed of the different careers opportunities in our area,
- Regional manufacturers will be in attendance to deliver a summary of the products produced in local manufacturing, provide information on the working environment, and share expectations of candidates for employment,
- Day 2 will involve visiting local manufacturing businesses to provide an up close and personal look at technology and how vocational education fits in manufacturing/industry.
