Was Justification and Explanation one of your lowest scored categories by your students on the ACT Aspire summative Assessment? Do your students struggle to answer questions that require them to justify and explain their answers and thinking? If you answered yes to one or both of those questions, this workshop is for you. In this workshop, we will explore the justification and explanation reporting category on ACT Aspire, discuss sentence stems that can serve as a scaffold to students for justifying and explaining their mathematical reasoning, and discuss how to develop rich tasks that require students to justify and explain their thinking.
