GREC-Addressing Student Needs Through the IEP Process

Students who receive special education services must have an IEP that is "reasonably calculated for the child to make progress in light of the child's circumstances." What does this mean for students and for students and for the IEP development process? This session will walk participants through developing a Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), determining what accommodations are needed, and developing goals for the student based on the PLAAFP. The session will also include the impact that well-developed, or poorly-developed, PLAAFP and goals can have from a legal perspective, citing both in-state and national precedents. Audience: school administrators, teachers, special education providers.

PLEASE BRING A STUDENT FILE WITH YOU TO THIS SESSION.
