OUR PLC Foundations Session



The focus of this session will be to revisit the basic tenets of establishing PLCs within a building including the following:

Three Big Ideas
A Focus on Learning
A Collaborative Culture and Collective Responsibility
A Results Orientation

Focus
Essential standards
Common assessments
Academic interventions
Action orientation and experimentation

Four Corollary PLC Questions
What do we want students to know and be able to do? (Guaranteed and viable curriculum--Essential Standards and Effective Instruction)
How do we know if students have learned? (Common Formative Assessments)
How do we respond when students don’t learn?
How do we respond when students have learned?



Important Session Information:


This session will be held in the library at Jasper School Campus.

Participants will receive two professional texts: Learning by Doing and Professional Learning Communities at Work.
Lunch will be provided.
