NAESC Illustrative Mathematics Preview for 6-8, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry
Have you heard the buzz about Illustrative Mathematics? Their middle school curriculum is the highest-rated math program on EdReports and their high school curriculum is coming soon. According to the Illustrative Mathematics website, “IM Math is a problem based core curriculum designed to address content and practice standards to foster learning for all. Students learn by doing math, solving problems in mathematical and real-world contexts, and constructing arguments using precise language. Teachers can shift their instruction and facilitate student learning with high-leverage routines to guide learners to understand and make connections between concepts.”
If you are considering a new high school curriculum, please join us to learn more about this exciting NEW, FREE resource from Illustrative Mathematics and Kendall Hunt.
Participants will engage in lessons, learn about the structure of the units and lessons, and explore the main features of the curriculum. This curriculum provides
? Vertical alignment information (K-HS) and differentiation strategies
? Student-friendly learning targets to encourage students to take ownership in their own learning
? Diagnostic and End-of-Unit Assessments
? Built-in support for English Learners and Students with Disabilities within each unit
Schools are encouraged to send a team of teachers, instructional facilitators, curriculum directors, and administrators to evaluate the curriculum as a possibility for the 2019-2020 school year. Schools implementing the curriculum will have training days available in the summer and will receive ongoing training and support throughout the school year.
