OUR Fostering Disciplinary Reasoning Skills in the PreAP History and SS Classroom
Fostering disciplinary reasoning skills is a key focus of the Pre-AP social studies classroom. This workshop explores the four disciplinary reasoning skills that appear in Pre-AP and AP course frameworks: causation, comparison, contextualization, and change and continuity over time. Participants design activities that use Pre-AP Shared Instructional Principles and allow students to find meaning in primary and secondary source sets the way that historians and geographers do.
