This course, "Obesity Prevention and Education for School Nurses: is designed to increase school nurses' knowledge on issue related to childhood obesity.
Objectives:
Define obesity and relate current trends in Arkansas and the United States. Discuss risk factors for childhood obesity. Explain health consequences of obesity. Review history and pertinent legislation related to Body Mass Index in Arkansas. Demonstrate the process for appropriate height and weight measurement for children. List resources available for schools and school nurses to combat childhood obesity.
Course completion requires participant to register on A-Train; complete a pre and post course assessment and to attend the entire session A-Train session ID # 1071036. Participants are required to log into A-Train and complete the course evaluation within 2 weeks of completing the course or they will be withdrawn and not receive CNE contact hours.
