WDMESC: Section 504: Demystifying the “Other Special Education" by Zoom

This special online delivery via Zoom day includes:

·       This will be more than a lecture and more than delivery through a fuzzy camera with static speech. Using Zoom’s capabilities, we will take advantage of technology to explore Section 504 through discussion, questions, groups, and more.

·       Orientation to Zoom platform, procedures, and online etiquette for the day.

·       Our day will be segmented to allow for distance delivery but we will satisfy the time requirements for professional development.

·       Using Zoom to build community within the group as we cover material and process.

·       Topics we will explore include:

o   Building collaborative cultures in schools

o   The key team players to make Section 504 work

o   What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

o   Implications of the new Amendments to the ADA

o   How to make policy decisions about Section 504

o   It’s the people that make it or break it!

o   Helping everyone understand Section 504

o   Calculating 504 Plans: What to do and what to avoid

o   Making key decisions about Section 504
