DSC Encoding, Spelling, and Writing-What Does that Look Like Through the Lens of the Science of Reading
Participants will be learning about encoding surveys that can be used to figure out what spelling instruction and intervention students need. We will examine spelling errors in writing samples to decide if they are phonological or orthographic and what that can tell us about the student. Participants will learn how we can use student writing to determine which of Ehri's Phases students are in and what instructional strategies will move them to the next phase. We will discuss and learn about the strands on Joan Sedita's "Writing Rope" and how we can use that for writing instruction.
