SCSC - The Science of Reading Continues for K-2



This training will include an in-depth review of explicit decoding and encoding in the K-2 classroom based on the science of reading.  Lessons will be modeled as well as opportunities to practice the six syllable types and syllable division in regards to decoding and encoding. The second half of the day will be spent dividing into groups based on individual phonics programs and working collaboratively to align a scope and sequence for decoding and encoding to match the science of reading. This training will be located at the Magnolia School District Freshman Academy Multipurpose Classroom, Room 149.  TESS components addressed: 1A, 1C, 1E, and 3C.

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. Districts that have not paid for nurses and/or paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of 

cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (address tied to escWorks). Participants are not allowed to bring guests (such as children or spouses) to any trainings.
