GFESC Online Book Study: Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Grades 6-8



In Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching: Grades 6-8 the authors guide teachers to develop a deep understanding of mathematics. This user-friendly book presents grades 6-8 teachers with a logical progression of pedagogical actions to increase their knowledge and improve mathematics instruction. Through this book study teachers will explore strategies and techniques to effectively learn and teach significant mathematics concepts and provide all students with the precise, accurate information they need to achieve academic success. This online book study will open on June 5th and run through July 31, and completion will provide 18 hours of professional development. Each week participants will read one chapter and complete an activity that goes along with the chapter. Participation in the activities and interaction with other participants in Google Classroom is required. There will also be two live Zoom sessions.
