SWAEC- (Online) OpenSciEd - Anchoring Science Phenomenon Routine (Blended Online - 6 hours)

Do you need free, high quality, vetted units of instruction for middle school science? Join us as we engage in the first of a series of professional development sessions that introduce and equip teachers to implement the OpenSciEd materials and instructional model. This session will focus on the anchoring phenomenon routine that anchors each unit. The three-hour facilitated interactive online session transitions into a three-hour independent session that gives teachers the opportunity to explore an OpenSciEd unit at middle school grade levels. The goals of OpenSciEd high-quality science units, aligned to the Framework and NGSS, are to ensure any science teacher, anywhere, can access and download freely available, high quality, locally adaptable full-course materials. This session segues into the next 6-hour session in the OpenSciEd instructional model, the Investigation Routine.

Important Session Information:

This PD includes an initial 3 hour facilitated group session 8:30 - 11:30 on June 29 to be followed by an independent study session. The independent work must be submitted to achieve the 6 hours of credit for the workshop. A pre-session email will be sent to registrants with technology requirements, links, and other information relevant to the session.
